STAATSPREIS DESIGN 2024 – Auszeichnung —
»The Mobile Scent Bulbs Meadow« has been honored at the State Prize Design 2024, among 218 distinguished participants.
The Mobile Scent Bulbs Meadow is a multi-part object designed for exploring and experiencing spices. Developed for the Van den Berg Spice Manufactory, it encourages playful the discovery of spices, inviting visitors to explore through smell, discover new varieties, and spark conversations like, „I recognize the smell, but what is it?“ or „Smells interesting—how does it taste?
The scent bulbs are central to the shopping experience, representing Van den Berg’s brand. Available in wall-mounted, counter-integrated, and mobile versions, the mobile set features six different-sized bulbs for trade fairs, tastings, events, etc.
Each object is primarily composed of mass-produced materials: lab flasks, rubber corks, silicone tubing, bellows, and glass funnels. These are mounted on handmade steel rods set on a movable oak base.
The richness of colors and materials, as well as the formal arrangement of the mobile scent bulb meadow, is reminiscent of the lushness of a full bouquet, a readymade with the authentic charm of the handmade.
