The linear, fast movement on the street is offset by a “kink” in the silhouette of the store.
This gesture, this slowing down of movement, defines a place on the street, the SPAR PS.
Three-dimensionally, the market appears from both sides as a kind of funnel that pulls inward; there is no clear front or back.
The facade is made of galvanized steel sheet which dissolves into lamellas on the entrance side, thus additionally opening up and highlighting the access side. At the funnel openings, the market is generously glazed for enhanced daylighting inside.
The result is a simple yet complex interplay of two forms of dynamics, the fast movement on the highway and the dynamics of the architecture.
