The following questions were central to planning:
a. how can the future structure be made fit for further development phases of the company, and
b. how can production processes be optimized in such a way as to guarantee efficiency and cost-effective production of goods.

The so-called “backbone” was developed for this purpose and represents the infrastructural backbone of the entire company.

The backbone divides production into the two main production units: the film production, which is kept dust-free by means of positive pressure, and the processing area in which the films are cut, stored, packaged, and delivered.

The ground floor area of the backbone represents a multi-use zone for both production units with operations management offices, warehouses, workshops, and so on. There are also two air locks with high-speed doors as a transition between dust-free production and processing. The entire infrastructural supply (building technology, ventilation, electrical engineering, media, etc.) for both production zones is located in the upper area of the backbone.

Future plans

The building structure was made fit for further development phases of the company: In the event of an expansion of the building, the backbone and the two production areas can easily be extended.
