MOCHART Köflach (A)
Large parts of Austria are rural in nature. For a long time, these places were overlooked.
The appeal of more urban centers led to a rural exodus. However, with the rising cost of living in urban areas, these once-forgotten places are regaining their appeal. Köflach is a town in Styria.
On its outskirts lies a small, village-like ‚mini-center‘. Here is the headquarters of the Mochart company, which includes a publicly accessible restaurant and café.
This existing public venue is now set to be expanded with a service center and apartments, enhancing the attractiveness of this micro-location. The service center will accommodate small-scale commercial activities like hairdressing salons, medical offices, and office spaces, as well as apartments for temporary use by employees or tourists. The building itself is situated on a slope and is circular in design, forming a non-directional, point-like structure that is equally visible from all directions. The slope is utilized to accentuate the prominence of the commercial entrances.
